As promised in our AMA - Video Conference we'd like to officially share with you the Domio Backer Portal: one spot for the most current updates on your Domio order. 

We've shared this with some folks on our Facebook group already, so you will see updates from July 5th and the latest update made today: July 10th. 

We will update the portal every five days or less, and will be as transparent and specific as possible, so you know exactly what's happening with your Domio. As soon as we know something, you will know it too.

DOMIO PRO SHIPPING UPDATE

Hi Everyone, 

We’re writing to you again with an update but it is not the update we hoped to be sharing with you at this point in time. We are not writing with your tracking numbers as originally planned and communicated.

Earlier this month we communicated to you that we would be shipping your orders on June 15th. We ended the pre-order campaign, shut off marketing and got our fulfillment centers prepped to ship your orders. Unfortunately, we hit yet another unforeseen snag and failed to deliver on our promise. 

WHAT HAPPENED?

Up until early June, we were very confident we had secured all our supplies in time. However, after inspecting the quality of some of our procured components, we realized one of the parts had performance defects that were unacceptable and had to be fixed. Because we work with customized parts (not off the shelf), there was no convenient recourse other than to have the part redesigned and wait for new production, delaying delivery.

DROPPED THE BALL

Building a new product has its challenges, as does projecting accurate shipping dates before a product has been built, but we are definitely to blame here for being overly optimistic with timing and more so, for poorly managing the communication with you, especially in the days following June 15th. 

For this we apologize and give you our word that it all changes now.

WHAT’S NEXT?

For starters tomorrow we would like to invite everyone to our live AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) video conference call with me Bart and my other co-founder Sebastian (Head of Product Development/Production). On the call we will go through a detailed update on manufacturing, share a specific delivery schedule for the Domio MOTO and MOTO PRO, and take time to answer any of your questions/concerns live on air.

Secondly, tomorrow we will be unveiling a centralized backer update portal on our website, domiosports.com. One place for all information related to your order (so that we avoid inconsistent messaging across the various platforms). This portal will provide a detailed manufacturing overview and delivery timelines (updated every 5 days or less), along with a live tracker showing the percentage of orders shipped, as they leave our warehouse. 

FIRST PRODUCTS / MANUFACTURING:

Despite this setback your orders are coming and manufacturing is underway. Crowdfunding has its risks and many projects fail to deliver, but this is not our first rodeo and you have no reason to be concerned about that here. Everyone will be getting their Domio soon.

Recently, we received the first Domio MOTO products from our factory. Please see an unboxing of the new MOTO below.  As well as behind-the-scene footage of 10,000s of MOTOPRO packages being prepped for your orders.

First Domio Moto Retail-Ready Samples Are Here!

Hey Everyone,

This is just a quick update to share some exciting news with you all. This week, we received our first retail-ready samples of the new Domio Moto and Moto Pro units. Check it out! 

The samples look great, feel great, and sound even better! With these samples in and tested, we have finally approved the first batch of Domio's to be manufactured. No major issues have come up and no major changes need to be made. What this means is that the first Domio's are being produced right away and shipping is imminent. The timeline for shipping the first pledges is now in the order of days rather than weeks! It is an unbelievable feeling to finally be at the stage where we can share the final, retail-ready Domio's with you and confidently tell you your first ride with Domio Moto is right around the corner!

Here is another quick video showing just how easy it is to mount Domio onto your helmet. We spent a lot of time perfecting the mounts to ensure that it is quick and easy to mount Domio onto your helmet.

Finally, there is only a few days left to get in on the pre-order for Domio Moto Pro! If you or anyone you know is interested in Domio, make sure that they place their orders before June 15th to secure the 30-50% pre-order discount.

Concrete Shipping Dates, Final Packaging, and More!

Hey Everyone,

We know that this update is long overdue so let’s get right to it.

Shipping

The big question on everyone’s mind for the last little while has undoubtedly been: “When is Domio going to ship?”. While we have always aimed to give accurate shipping dates that we believe we would meet, unforeseen circumstances have led to us miss the recent ones. We hear you; We know that the delays are frustrating, and we know that everyone wants to get the moto unit on their helmets in time for riding season this summer. We want this too, which is why we are working around the clock to get Domio Moto and MotoPro out to backers as fast as possible.

Recently, large companies such as Tesla have gone on component buying sprees and have purchased large chunks of component supplies. This has left the market with a shortage of some key components that are used in Domio. These shortages meant that we have had a hard time securing the quantities necessary to manufacture the Moto and MotoPro units.

The Good news is that we have secured orders for all of the components needed for manufacturing so this should not be an issue anymore going forward. This also means that we now have much clearer timelines that we can share with you. We wanted to post an update like this much earlier, but we wanted to wait until we were sure we could meet these dates. So here it is, the shipping dates for Domio Moto and MotoPro. I am going to try and be as transparent as possible here so that there is no confusion surrounding when backers can expect to get their orders.

Our first batch of Domio’s will be ready on June 15th. This means that the units will be boxed and arriving at our distribution center ready to be shipped out to backers. It will take another 1-2 business days from here to get the orders on trucks and on their way to their final destination – your front door. This is the fulfillment stage, and our system will automatically send you an email with tracking information so that you can track your order and know exactly when it is expected to arrive at your door.

Right now, it looks like we should be able to have the first batch shipped out in its entirety within the first two days of the fulfillment stage, but volume restrictions might mean that we can only ship out a certain amount per day. It doesn’t look like this will be the case, but in the interest of transparency, we want to let you know in case it does end up happening. We should have more photos of this process to share soon ;)

How long will shipping take?

Great question! US orders will take around 3-5 business days to arrive at your door. Canadian orders will take 5-9 business days. There is some more variability in international orders, but we expect that most should arrive within 7-15 business days after being shipped.

Finally, it looks like our first batch will be able to fulfill 75% of all Domio Moto and MotoPro orders. Our second batch will be coming up right behind the first one so it shouldn’t be much longer of a wait for the remaining 25% to get their orders. We will post another update for the remaining backers so that they know when to expect their orders to arrive.

Packaging

We have spent a great deal of time designing the packaging for Domio Moto and MotoPro. We wanted it to be bold, eye catching, and informative. We are glad to say that the design is essentially complete and we think you’ll love it! Check it out:

First samples in the wild!

Some of you may already know this, but we actually have some Moto and MotoPro units out in the hands of the media for testing and feedback. This means that you should start seeing reviews and articles pop up about Domio soon.

We also recently did a demo in Austin, Texas at MotoGP where people could come out and try the Moto units for themselves. Many backers actually ended up showing up and got to experience first hand the incredible performance that Domio can deliver. If you had any doubts about Domio, once you try it out for yourself - as those at MotoGP did - all doubts will be gone!

So that’s it, the final leg of the Domio campaign is in full swing and we are almost at the finish line! We know that everyone is excited to get their hands on the best helmet audio solution on the planet, and we know that the delays have been frustrating. They have been frustrating for us to. At the end of the day we want to deliver the best product possible and we are confident we have achieved this goal. We can’t wait to see all of the pictures and videos you guys will share once you start riding with Domio!

UPDATED SHIPPING DETAILS AND MORE!

Hi everyone,

To start off, once again thank you for all your support and patience. This community has been amazing, and we are working as fast as we can to deliver the very best products to everyone before they hit the retail market, and at a significant saving compared to future retail pricing.

SHIPPING:

To date all Domio snow pre-orders have been shipped, and we are now manufacturing the Domio 2.0+ and Domio Pro+ for moto.

We understand everyone's eagerness to get their Domio orders, especially with Spring around the corner, but please believe us that the extra wait will be worth it. We've made several massive design and software upgrades (detailed) below, which we hope will make up for it!

The retail price for our moto lineup will now be: Domio Music+ @ $199, and Domio Pro+ @ $249 due to the new upgrades. This is quite a bit higher than we originally projected, but as mentioned before, we will be honouring our pre-order prices, giving this community an even greater discount. 

The updated shipping timelines are as follows:

THE UPGRADED PRODUCT LINEUP FOR MOTO:

Last fall we made the difficult but (we believe) correct decision to split our Domio line-up into two verticals: motorsports and non-motorsports (ski/snow/cycling).

We found the while one Domio could theoretically work for all helmets, across all activities, that those folks using their device predominantly for motorsports could benefit from some extra power and a device more tuned to work in a high road noise environment. 

We offered a free upgrade to anyone who intended to use their Domio primarily for moto, but the enhancements did take us extra time (hence the delay in shipping the moto units). 

Summary of upgrades to Domo moto lineup:

• Larger battery with extra capacity (20 to 24hrs playtime)
• More powerful micro-vibration transducer (90dB to >100dB)
• Improved amplification processing
• State of the art noise cancellation (digitally removing engine and wind noise)
• Fine-tuned voice/speech recognition algorithm geared to work best in a high road noise environment
• New spring loaded mount mechanism to ensure better contact and adhesion even at the highest speeds
• Water resistant, dust resistant satin finishing
• Lastly, rider to rider intercom (detailed below).

So as you can imagine these things take time and money. But we made the call to make these improvements to hopefully delight you upon delivery, despite the extra wait.

DOMIO RIDER TO RIDER INTERCOM SYSTEM:

While originally the Domio Pro was designed for music and phone operations, we saw a huge demand for rider to rider intercom. Over the last few months, our team has been working around the clock to get this ready for your units. Today we are super excited to announce that the Domio Rider to Rider Intercom Platform is ready, and we will be including it with your shipments this Spring!

The platform allows for 6 riders to speak in crystal clear, full duplex, real-time voice with unlimited range. The communication system sits on top of the music and GPS functionality, so you'll be able to listen to music while you talk. 

There will be two modes offered: Push to Talk (walkie talkie style) and Always-On Handsfree. Whatever you prefer. 

Domio riders will be able to easily customize their own rider chat rooms, and effortless jump between them when they desire.  I've included a few images below:
